NORTH CANTON, OH – Portage Electric Products, Inc., manufacturer of the popular PEPI® line of versatile, ultra-small thermal controls, has introduced a new line of economical thermal controls. Valstat™ Series thermal controls combine limited design options with a stocking program to offer a cost effective solution for customers. The first three Valstat snap action thermal controls all feature bimetallic elements to break an electrical circuit. These new devices automatically reset and are specially designed for reliable operation in inductive applications such as motors, transformers and lighting fixtures. New Model J(C) Valstat Series thermal protectors feature a fold-over case design and snap action, quick break/quick make switching action. The bimetallic element carries the circuit current for maximum sensitivity under short circuit conditions.
The Model J(C) offers the versatility to choose from two bimetallic elements with different resistance values depending on the sensitivity needs of the application. Devices are available with either same or opposite end terminations and can have various leads attached at the factory. Operating temperatures are pre-set at the factory and are available in 5°C increments between 50°C and 150°C.
The Valstat™ Series also includes the BR-A1D Series with a drawn metal case and the Model BR-B2D Series with a heat-resistant plastic case. Both offer ultra-compact sealed design suitable for applications requiring a vacuum impregnation process. These snap action devices offer quick break/quick make switching action using a bimetallic element that carries the circuit current for maximum sensitivity under short circuit conditions. Users can select from two different bimetallic elements depending upon application needs. Operating temperatures are pre-set at the factory and are available in 5°C increments between 50°C and 150°C.
